The Anglican church was built as a result of the special decree of Francis I in 1821, according to which British subjects residing in Trieste were allowed to group into communities and to erect, at their own expense, an Anglican religious oratory. After forming the community some English families imposed themselves a taxation in order to collect the amount to build a temple: the neoclassical temple characterized by the Greek style pronaos was completed between 1830 and 1831, under the direction of master builder Fumis. In addition to the aesthetic validity is a monumental document of the British colony who, from the seventeenth century onwards had particular significance for the city of Trieste. The colony grew in number and quality together to the modern city, and, especially in 800 gave a significant contribution to its growth in commercial transactions, and generally in commercial, industrial and financial activities.
